EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report)
Are Your Electrics Safe?
Ensuring the safety of the electrics in your home is essential for your protection. To determine if your electrical systems are safe, it’s best to have a qualified electrician carry out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). In the UK, an EICR should be completed every 10 years for domestic properties, or every 5 years for rental properties. It is also recommended that properties be tested before being sold, so buyers can be informed of the electrical system’s condition. Commercial properties often require more frequent inspections, and certain homes, such as those with thatched roofs, may need an EICR for insurance purposes.

What’s Involved in an Electrical Installation Condition Report?
An EICR consists of two main parts: visual inspections and electrical testing. During the visual inspection, we assess the condition of lights and sockets, checking for any damage or wear. We inspect the wiring, bonding, and earthing, as well as examine the consumer unit to ensure it meets current safety standards
Electrical testing involves sending a current through the circuits to measure earthing resistance, check the wiring insulation, and ensure proper polarity. We also test the RCD (Residual Current Device) to verify that it operates correctly and within safety guidelines.
After each inspection, we provide a comprehensive report, which can be shared with insurers or tenants if needed. If any safety issues are found, we document them with photos and include them in the report. We’ll also provide a free, detailed quote to address any necessary repairs.
